Caedmon House (previously a hotel) in Whitby is a large townhouse that is surrounded by local attractions. It has been carefully refurbished to offer specialist accommodation in a 3 bedded flat attached to a 5 bedded house with leisure and activity facilities included. It is situated next to the seafront and is a walking distance from Whitby Pavilion. We are ideally situated on the popular West Cliff in Whitby close to all amenities; the Spa Theatre; the Royal Gardens; Crazy Golf; Tennis; Pitch and Putt; Boating Lake; Beaches; Town Shops and the 18 holes Links Golf Course.

Our Service

At Caedmon, all clients receive a personal care plan to suit their individual needs. We encourage people to make decisions and express their feelings and emotions. Clients are helped to maintain their independence through their care plan, and we support their wishes to privacy and dignity. Above all, we respect our clients rights to their beliefs and views.

By getting to know the individuals that we care for, we aim to understand the causes behind any behavioural issues. It is imperative to respond in a supportive and therapeutic way that minimises the need for physical intervention. The experienced employees are familiar with possible causes of these problems and are fully trained in diversionary and de-escalating techniques.

Caedmon House Facilities

Our philosophy of helping clients to reach their full potential and maximise personal growth forms the basis to our structured activity programmes. Activities include education, regular visits to local cinemas, shops, public houses, restaurants, leisure centres, museums, swimming, gym and day trips. Clients are also treated to bus and boat tours, and encouraged to help run the home.

Working closely with Milewood staff, community nurses offer follow-up support for additional health needs and carry out medical reviews. Individuals have access to local health services including opticians, dentists and chiropodists. Best of all, our clients enjoy private, individually decorated rooms
